With his time spent on Wall Street and in real estate private equity, Jeff Barcy has more than twenty years of real estate investing experience. Along with the aforementioned skills, he is also knowledgeable with regards to valuation, portfolio management, real estate development, start-ups, leveraged finance, funding, residential homes, and financial modeling.

He also knows about asset management, property, venture capital, and investment management. While at Harvard University, Jeff Barcy’s activities included being a member of the Varsity Wrestling Team. Before that, while in high school, he was co-captain of his wrestling team.

He went undefeated in high school throughout his regular senior season. He achieved over 100 wins during his high school wrestling career. This included a trip to the Nationals in Iowa. At Harvard University, he competed at the NCAA level on the university’s varsity wrestling team.

Jeff Barcy is a graduate of Harvard Business School and he achieved his MBA at the school from 1994 to 1996. At Harvard University, he obtained his BA with High Honors, in English and American Literature.

He attended Harvard University from 1987 to 1991. Upon graduating from Harvard University in 1991, he spent 3 years working on Wall Street and also in Los Angeles, CA as an investment banker.

From August 1996 to October 2005 (totalling 9 years and 3 months), Jeff Barcy was a Credit Suisse Director. He began his banking career as a Credit Suisse First Boston financial analyst. He also worked in the Los Angeles, California office of Donaldson, Lufkin, & Jenrette (DLJ). DLJ was later acquired by Credit Suisse.

While at Credit Suisse, Mr. Barcy performed more than $20B of transactions for real estate companies. This included $5 billion of mergers and acquisitions and $15 billion of capital raises.

From October 2005 to October 2007 (amounting to 2 years and 1 month), Jeff Barcy was Executive Vice President and Managing Director at Hearthstone. He created the Landstone division and helped manage an organization of 75 people and 125 active real estate projects from coast to coast.

At Hearthstone, a large institutional investor in real estate, he was a Senior Officer. Hearthstone has $2B of assets under management. At the firm, Mr. Barcy developed a new business from a $150M start-up to a $1B fund. Moreover, he completed $500M of investments.

Jeff Barcy’s experience includes three years at Cantor Fitzgerald & Co., where he was a Managing Director. His experience includes over two decades in real estate private equity and on Wall Street.

He raised greater than $20 billion in capital for homebuilders and developers, REIT’s, as well as private real estate companies through a combination of CMBS deals, senior and subordinated notes, loans, follow-on offerings, IPO’s, and private placements.

Jeff Barcy started his banking career with the office of Donaldson, Lufkin, and Jenrette in 1996. He began as an Associate. He subsequently worked his way up throughout the course of 9 years to become a Director in the organization’s investment banking office.

While at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette he worked on $20 billion of Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), mergers & acquisitions (M&A’s), and equity and monetary debt financings for a wide selection of organizations.

Real estate investment banking is Jeff Barcy’s forte. His specialties also include raising private capital as well as sourcing attractive real estate investment opportunities. He has been Salem Partners’ Managing Director from April 2014 to the present.

With regards to investment banking, he specializes in advisory for the middle market, valuations, fairness opinions, capital raising, Aerospace & Defense M&A’s, Real Estate, Life Sciences & Technology, and Media & Entertainment.
